Happy Effin' New Years Eve!

Well its time for another year to end. But no worries another one will be right there ready and waitinig. Waiting for you to make the most of it or totally fuck it up. Its up to you.

Although I'm staying home this evening, listening to NPR and watching the ball drop on the telly. I still will enjoy ringing in the new year.

2008 started off with such promise and a feeling of wonderment. It didn't end as great, but hey I made it thru.

So looking to the new year, what do I expect, hope and wish for. Health, wealth (or at least not poverty) and some happiness. Which all comes with a generous side of sickness, brokeness and sadness/madness.

But hey I'll take it.

Enjoy what you have. Make the most of your own talents. And have an effin' Happy New Years!!!

MuAh!

Halloween sadness

Its Halloween and that makes me kind of sad. I'm over 1300 miles from my mom, the Queen of Halloween.
Its the day of the year I miss her the most. My mother has always loved Halloween. She has made nearly every costume I've ever worn. I remember in kindergarten her being in charge of the Haunted House at my school. Making all the scary things, and getting the older neighborhood kids to run around in the Haunted House chase all the little kids. My mom would do every ones make up. Its amazing what she could do even if we were poor back then, a little cheap makeup and some of my dad's old clothes and they were all killing dead zombies.
From my first Halloween trick or treating when she made me into a little red devil, to making me into one of the dead dancers from Michael Jackson's Thriller, to making me a white vinyl naughty nurse outfit, to us making together my Zena warrior Princess outfit, to my Ball Gown for my victorian costume, to countless outfits she made for my friends. My mom has always and will always be the Queen of Halloween to me.
And even though I can't be with her tonight, handing out the 500 bags of Kettle Korn her and my dad made, eating chili, sitting in the front yard, and talking with my parents friends. She's in my heart, and I know I am in hers. And someday we will live close enough to each other again to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year together again.

Custom Orders

Well I worked on some custom orders over the weekend. This first one is a Bat Frame that is still in progress, I'm doing this one for a trade with a shop on Etsy.

This one was a custom order I received off myspace. They wanted a dishwasher sign to flip when the dishes were clean or dirty. And it just so happened they like cherries.

Custom orders can be fun and sometimes a little frustrating as well. Because sometimes the customer has one thing in there head and you have another. But so far my custom orders have been a sucess!

Quick post about Them Duke Boys

At my Totally 80's Craft party we sat around and talked about toys and what not when we were growing up. I discovered I must of really loved the Dukes of Hazard. I had more than one toy related to the series. So here is my salute to those good ole' Duke boys!!!

More to come about the 80's party later....

3,2,1, 1/2

The countdown begins to the weekend! I'm really excited to have a My Totally 80's Craft party this weekend. Fully and excellently loaded with movies such as, Weird Science, Ferris Buller's Day Off,

Sixteen Candles

The Breakfast Club, Manniquin, and the tv serise Square Pegs too!

Not to over shadow the friendship braclets, shrikie dinks and Makit & Bakit suncatchers that I had to go to ebay to find, cause I'm sure they don't make them any more because the fumes are toxic :)
And if anyone is bored with all that, they can always play Mrs. PacMan.

Its going to be totally 80's to the max!

Artist Trades and Custom Orders for the Holidays

Two things today,,,
In addition to the custom work orders for the holidays, I'm also looking for other artist to make trades with. I have lots of peoples birthdays and plus the holidays coming up.
So if you care to trade hit me up!

Claudia's Burning Ink is now taking custom orders for the Holidays. Just hit me up and let me know what you are looking for and I will let you know that cost and turn around time.

Claudia's Burning Ink requires half of total cost up front on custom orders.

Just check out my pictures of my work, maybe someone you know needs a rockin' box purse. Or maybe that person that has everything needs a rad picture frame. Or for the man in your life, a catchall, so he doesn't leave his cell phone, wallet and other stuff all over the frakin' place! Necklaces are great for everyone.

You can google Claudia's Burning Ink to find photos of my work on myspace and flickr.

All of Claudia's Burning Ink's creations are hand drawn, hand wood burnt, painted and sealed.

Expect the Unexpected

Well I did expect to be bored at work, and low and behold I am. But the unexpected is the possible opprotunity aproaching me. An opprotunity to do something I love and get paid for it. To live a less stressful life and to truely enjoy everyday. More to come later on this super secret event in my life.
On another note. I have two art shows I'm suppose to be in that I don't have anything done to submit. I have one show coming in Nov with a piece that isn't even half done. I still have 3 or 4 more art/craft events this year I'm commited to. All this and I just realized I haven't attended the state fair that ends this weekend. Might have to skip that, especially since I'm having my Totally 80's craft party Saturday. hmmmmmm

A job I'd love

Although I love the art and crafting I get to do in the evenings and weekends. I spend my days under fluorescent lighting. Practically tied to a desk. Always either typing away or pen in one hand phone in the other.
It would be wonderful if I could find a job where I could express myself creatively and leave each day feeling like I did something. Not leaving each day dreading the next. I really want to be a professional crafter. Its always been a dream. Although if everyone grew up to be what they wanted to be, we'd all be veterinarians, firemen, cowboys and girls, and astronauts.

Darn 8-5 Job

My "real" job this week is killing me. I won't have anytime to be online. I like that it pays the bills and all. But seriously, does it have to take my whole day?

Thanks Mr. President

So today was Presidents day. What does it mean?
Other than the banks, state, county and federal buildings are closed?
Well for me it meant I slept in till 10:30. Went to lunch with my husband downtown. Went to the Salvation Army got a record on how to teach your Parrot to talk. Went to Macy's in South OKC that is closing. They have all there display stuff for sale. Got a necklace display, want a maniquin really bad. Got some cheap dresses and tie for the husband. Went to my "secret" shopping spot. Got a formal dress nwt, needs a new zipper for $3! Took it to the dry cleaners asked them to put a zipper in it. Went to dinner with my husband on the lake. Oh and had time to write in my blog.
I also snuck in a trip to Blue 7 to see my frames that are for sale there :)
So I say thank you Mr. Presidents of the past for saving me from my office for an extra day this week.
XO,
Claudia

OK its going to be Sunday is Post day

I'm really trying to get time to post in my schedule. My corp M-F job blocks blogger, can't imaging why. Just glad they don't block ETSY!

So last night was the first meeting of the Disciples of Etsy, Oklahoma Etsy Street Team. It was really great to hang out with other crafters and really just see what everyone was creating.

Its going to be the last Saturday of each month. I sewed some arm warmers and gave them to Tara. Since I don't really sew, it was awesome!

Wait what do I do here again

OK I am the worst blogger ever. Anyway, Happy New Year everybody. Wow today has been uneventful enough that I didn't even shower. Went for a walk, did some craft stuff, sat my butt in this chair in front of the computer.
What a lazy Sunday, love it!
